* The Learning and Skills Council has appointed Melanie Hunt as its new national director of learning. Ms Hunt, who was previously director of young people's learning at the LSC, took up her post on 3 January. She said, 'I am keen to build on my local experience of working with partners in local authorities, Connexions and the learning and skills sector so that we can - together - deliver on the challenging 14-19 agenda.'
