Mick Brooks, head teacher of Sherwood Junior School in Nottinghamshire, will succeed David Hart as the new general secretary of the National Association of Head Teachers on 1 September. Mr Brooks won the election against David Hawker, director for children, families and schools at Brighton and Hove council, by 4490 votes.
