My Giant 123 Bath Book

(Innovative Kids, 7.99)

The many and various activities in this pack are ideal for bath-time or any kind of water play, where the shapes can be stuck on the side of a bath or to wet tiles. This title has more appeal than Letters, which features regular-shaped discs and capital letters (not the approach traditionally used in the UK, unlike the US).

The 123 pack features numerals and the number words up to ten, and the matching number of stars on the reverse. One foam base with slot spaces features images of animals from one to ten, where the four fanged walruses are the cutest. In a second matching slot base there are large, clear numbers. In addition, there is a plastic sheet of raised numbers which children can trace their fingers round, with adult help. Each element is useable in a wet environment except the card covering for the pack, which features black and white images of the animals and numbers for children to colour in. Velcro straps hold all the elements together - a boon when there are lots of bits and pieces that might otherwise become separated.
