Nannies for grannies

Georgie Bateman, who runs the Night Nannies franchise in Hampshire and Wiltshire, is now launching an extra service called Nannies for Grannies. When grandchildren come to stay for a few days, a nanny can arrive at 9pm and deal with bathtime, bedtime and night-time requests. The idea came from Georgie's own mum, who sometimes cares for Georgie's girls Annabel and Louisa. 'Many grandparents want to give their children a weekend off, but are worried they won't know what to do,' says Georgie. 'And after spending the whole day entertaining a young child they feel exhausted.'

Payment is at the local night nanny rate (about 5 an hour for the nanny). The grandparent's introduction fee of 150 entitles them to use the service for a year.
