Debbie Wordley, who runs Wiltshire based Savernake Nannies, said they have seen a real influx in families looking for nannies since Covid-19 and Brexit, which forced many au pairs to return home.
However, since the emergence of coronavirus, nannies have left the sector and fewer nursery practitioners are leaving settings to work in the profession.
Nidum Nannies, an agency in Nottingham, said it had also seen a ‘widening gap’ between families approaching them for nannies and the availability of nannies, which director and partner Jamie Crew said could be down to the change in the way families now work due to the pandemic.
