New support centre gets the go-ahead

The National Day Nurseries Association has secured funding for the building of a new National Early Years Enterprise Centre in Huddersfield which should be up and running next year. Chief executive Purnima Tanuku, speaking at last week's NDNA conference, said that contracts for the building had just been signed. It is backed by 1.75m from Yorkshire Forward and 300,000 from Kirklees Metropolitan Borough Council.

The site will accommodate a business unit, designed to support nurseries who are looking to expand, and a workforce development academy as the hub of the NDNA's training activities.

It will also be the organisation's new headquarters, with space for its 40 existing staff.
