North Lanarkshire Childcare Partnership

North Lanarkshire Childcare Partnership plans to invest 100,000 to recruit and develop the next generation of childcare workers. Thirty local people will benefit from training to gain the skills needed for a wide range of childcare roles. Two free training programmes will be delivered over 26 weeks, designed to provide skills, on-the-job experience, and vocational and national certificate modules, as well as motivation courses. Local company Kids Club Direct has won the management contract. Project manager Thom Hughes said, 'We are hoping the programme will reach a diverse audience including unemployed and local people, women returners and ethnic minorities. It would be great to see some men coming into the sector. We also welcome grans and granddads.' For information, contact Kids Clubs Direct on 0845 045 4214.
