Pennies buy bikes
Staff at Bairnswood Nursery in Scarborough came up with a novelcollection method to raise money for a set of new bikes. They gave tubesof Smarties to 41 children and asked them to get their parents to fillthem with pennies. Over 100 was collected - enough for threebikes and two prams.
Happy at hospital
The nursery at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital has been gradedoutstanding by Ofsted. Inspectors said Fledgelings Day Nursery, attendedby 78 of the hospital staff's children, has created 'a happy and relaxedenvironment'. Children had access to lots of equipment and were seen'threading, gardening, cooking and riding on toys'.
