The children's charity will work with Children England, formerly theNational Council of Voluntary Child Care Organisations (NCVCCO), toestablish a framework of child protection standards.
The unit, to be based in the NSPCC National Training Centre inLeicester, will set up a website and telephone helpline and act as aone-stop shop for information and safeguarding advice.
NSPCC chief executive Andrew Flanagan said, 'The third sector makes amajor contribution to children's well-being and development but it isvital they can demonstrate to parents that their children are in safehands. We will be working to build on their strengths and provide themwith the advice, information and training they need.'
