Nursery Chains: New owners to run nurseries as creches

Childcare and nanny recruitment agency Tinies is to take over four settings previously run by nursery chain Primary Steps from January.

Tinies is to re-open the sites, which closed over the summer, ascreches. They had been run as nurseries offering full daycare.

Tinies already runs 23 creches and playschemes, including those atCannons health clubs.

The new creches will be integrated into the Next Generation health andfitness clubs, offering childcare to members.

As Nursery World reported last week, potential buyers have been foundfor 16 of Primary Steps' 27 sites after administrators were calledin.

Eight of the remaining settings are in Next Generation clubs. Now Tiniesis set to open creches at four clubs in Ipswich, Chorley, York andRomford.

Oliver Black, director of Tinies, said Next Generation wanted anestablished creche provider to take over the sites.

He said, 'The problems with Primary Steps are nothing to do with NextGeneration. It was important for Next Generation that they could bringin a trusted provider to serve customers, and we already enjoy asuccessful partnership with them at five other sites.'

Tinies said it had started to recruit staff from its agencies.
