Nursery nurses in Edinburgh returned to work on 31 May

Nursery nurses in Edinburgh returned to work on 31 May after voting by five to one to accept the local authority's latest pay offer. More than 300 nursery nurses were balloted last week on whether to accept 9.83 an hour as well as a one-off lump sum of 2,500. After the result was announced on 28 May, Barbara Foubister, chair of Edinburgh Unison, said, 'Emotions are running high. It was a very difficult decision for the nursery nurses to make. They've achieved a better grade. They want to be back at work. They've missed the children.' Edinburgh Unison had recommended acceptance. See the full story next week.
