Nursery staff call for council head to quit

* Nursery workers have called for a motion of no confidence in a council director of children's services. The 46 staff working in Ealing Council nurseries in west London said last week that they have lost trust in senior management after accusing it of reneging on a pay agreement that would have resulted in significant pay rises. As a result they are calling for the resignation of Ealing director of children's services, Judith Finlay.

As a result they are calling for the resignation of Ealing director of children's services, Judith Finlay.

At a meeting last week, the staff at Disraeli, Hanbury, Hanwell and Windmill nursery centres also unanimously endorsed a ballot for strike action over low pay. An Ealing Unison spokesman said, 'We are calling for an independent investigation into the whole affair and believe that Judith Finlay should do the honourable thing and resign.
