SPECIAL NEEDS TEACHERS

Children's secretary Ed Balls has pledged more support for traineeteachers who want to work with severely disabled children. Speaking atthe Association for School and College Leaders conference, Mr Ballsannounced plans for a new six-month specialist course for new teachers,a partnership with Teach First to bring top graduates into schools,arrangements to collect data on skilled teachers for future use and newtraining from the TDA on teaching children with severe learningdifficulties.

SIDE EFFECTS WORRY

More than half of parents in the US worry about serious side effectsfrom their children's vaccinations, says a survey published in the Marchissue of the journal Pediatrics. It found 88 per cent of parents saidthey do what their doctors say regarding vaccination.
