Nursery World's Noticeboard-welcoming visitors and raising money for charity.

A DENTIST CALLS

Norbury Hill Cubs, a group of childminders in London, welcomed a special visitor to the setting to follow on from their focus on dental hygiene. The visiting dentist, a parent of one of the children, is a member of Dental Education and Networking, a charity for improving the oral health of the community. Each child received a sticker and an oral hygiene and diet advice sheet to take home with them.

FESTIVAL OF COLOUR

Children and staff at Little Acorns Urmston Nursery in Greater Manchester dressed in bright colours to celebrate the Indian festival of colour, Holi. The children also created their own colourful works of art.

PYJAMA PARTY

Blossom Tree Children's Nursery in Edinburgh held a pyjama fundraising day with face painting, party games and a raffle. They raised more than £700 for the NSPCC.

IN THE JUNGLE

The Just Learning Nursery in Newcastle was turned into a jungle for the day while children learned about the animal world. Along with decorating the nursery, the threeand four-year-olds met a number of exotic creatures including a bearded dragon, a terrapin and a lizard.

IN THE POLICE CAR

Children at Natland and Oxenholme Pre-school near Kendal, Cumbria, enjoyed a visit by two local police officers as part of their 'people who help us' week. The children got to sit in the police car and test out the flashing lights and sirens.

FAIRY FUN DAY

Hopes and Dreams Montessori Nursery School in Islington, London, held a magical fun day to raise funds for Great Ormond Street children's hospital. Children and nursery staff dressed as characters from 'Peter Pan' in support of the hospital charity's Peter Pan week. The children also made sweets to sell to parents, while staff offered their babysitting services.

MINI POTS OF CARE

Children at the Wishing Tree Nursery in Brighton took part in the Marie Curie Cancer Care 'Mini Pots of Care' campaign.

To mark the event, children dressed in yellow and made yellow cupcakes and biscuits to sell. They also planted daffodils to take home. The nursery raised just over £500.

KNOW YOUR TREES

Children at the YMCA Nursery on Whale Island in Portsmouth celebrated Tu Bishvat, the Jewish New Year for trees on 8 February. Activities included drawing pictures of trees, making tree rubbings and taking photos of their favourite trees.

OUTSTANDING IN ALL

It was celebrations all round for staff and children at Holmsdale Manor Nursery in Ibstock, Leicestershire, who were awarded outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in their latest inspection.
