Ofsted to ditch children's director

Ofsted is to ditch the post of children's director, after a restructure in the autumn.

Michael Hart, who has held the role since July 2007, has stepped down'to pursue different career interests' and Roger Shippam has beenappointed the interim director until the new structure is up andrunning. A spokeswoman for Ofsted said, 'From September 2009, Ofsted'snew structure will have a director of inspection development (socialcare) responsible for inspection policy, frameworks and guidance; and anational director of inspection delivery, responsible for the deliveryof high quality inspections to national standards.'
