STAR LETTER

THE BEST PLACE FOR OUR BABIES

I have just finished reading 'Without walls' (10-22 January) and I wantto share with other NW readers how we accommodate the youngest childrenin our setting.

When we first opened in 2000 we were registered for children aged two tofive years. However, lots of requests followed and we made spaceavailable for up to eight under-twos in 2002. Our building is grade 2listed, so we were not permitted to 'extend'. Instead, we had tomaximise the full use of our floor space in our lower room. We also havethe added restriction of having no internal stairs, so moving from onefloor to the other requires going outside the building in allweathers!
