Parents Quitting Work

Working With Parents
Lack of flexible working opportunities is forcing parents to leave their jobs, says pressure group Family Friendly Working.

Its research found that just over a third of parents left work after having children because of inflexibility and three in ten said the cost of childcare forced them to quit. The group's director Antonia Chitty said, 'More work is needed to see whether parents are unclear about their rights, whether bosses are saying no, or whether the flexible work available just isn't flexible enough. The provision of funding for 2.5 - 3 hours pre-school per day can be impossible to fit in with most employment.' Visit www.familyfriendlyworking.co.uk.
