Parents rally support for Huddersfield nursery school

Parents at a Huddersfield nursery school threatened with closure have collected over 1,000 signatures calling for a reprieve.

They have formed an action group, supported by local MP Shahid Malik, to save the Denby Dale nursery school, which could be closed or privatised as part of a review by Kirklees council.

Parents are worried that if Denby Dale closes children will not have access to the same high-quality provision and that lower income families may not be able to find an alternative private provider.

Julie Cragg, whose three-year-old daughter attends Denby Dale, said, 'We took a petition to the council and are now sending individual letters. We are looking to hold a public meeting after we hear back from the council.'
