* Nursery group Child Base is set to name its new chairman in the next few weeks, after Sir Peter Thompson, the company's co-founder, stepped down from the position in October. He remains life president and chairman of the Employee Share Ownership Trust (News, 17 November). Mike Thompson is now chief executive and deputy chairman, while Emma Phillips, previously operations director, becomes managing director. Lynda Gostelow is the new operations director. Rosemary Murphy, former chief executive of the National Day Nurseries Association, has joined the Child Base board.
