Play in danger of becoming 'a lost art', survey claims

One in five parents in the UK have forgotten how to play with their children, according to a study of 2,000 parents and 2,000 children, aged from five to 15.

The State of Play, Back to Basics report for Disneyland Paris by Dr Tanya Byron warned that play was in danger of becoming 'a lost art'. While more than half of the children questioned said they wanted more time to play with parents, one-third of parents admitted playing with their children is boring. Play England questioned the research and said the real issue was that there were not enough safe play spaces.
