Play strategy guidance issued

New guidance on embedding the 235m Children's Play strategy has been published by the DCSF.

The guidance, launched last week by Baroness Delyth Morgan, the Under-Secretary of State for Children, is aimed at local authorities, Children's Trust boards, and local strategic partnerships, and sets out recommended processes for the planning required to provide play opportunities.

The first part of the guidance sets out the policy context for play, highlighting strategic roles and responsibilities, and the second sets out good practice and a recommended process for developing and implementing a local play strategy within the joint planning and commissioning framework.

Stephen Studd, chief executive of SkillsActive, said, 'I am extremely pleased to welcome the launch of the strategy, and the recognition the play workforce has in the long-term sustainability of the project.'
