Playgroups, pre-schools and day nurseries in Ulster are set to benefit

Playgroups, pre-schools and day nurseries are set to benefit from 200,000 being awarded by the Northern Ireland Assembly's Pre-School Education Expansion Programme. The money will be distributed to 374 settings in the province. Each will receive a one-off payment of 530, distributed by its Education and Library Board. Education minister Martin McGuinness said, 'The centres in the Pre-school Education Expansion Programme supply high-quality pre-school provision and I am delighted that I can announce additional financial support to help them do this. The individual centres are best placed to decide how to use the money and I am confident that their decisions will ensure the most beneficial results.'
