Police investigate death at nursery based in grounds of private school

An investigation is underway at a nursery in Greater Manchester following the death of a nine-month-old baby.

Greater Manchester Police were called to Ramillies Hall Nursery, which operates within the grounds of Ramillies Hall School in the Cheadle Hulme district of Stockport, on Tuesday (23 October) after 12.20pm, following reports that a child was choking.

The nine-month-old baby was taken to hospital and later pronounced dead.

Police are continuing with their enquiries to establish the cause of death and working in conjunction with Ofsted and the local authority. The nursery continues to operate as normal.

Ramillies Hall Nursery operates from two buildings within the grounds of Ramillies Hall private school. It is open from 8am to 6pm during term-time and registered to care for 69 children.
