PVI providers club together for services

A group of private, voluntary and independent childcare organisations is behind plans to create an innovative specialist childcare centre in Aberdeen. Silverburn Lodge in Aber- deeen Science and Energy Park will offer a range of childcare services including a nursery and an out-of-school club. The centre, which is expected to open by the end of the year, was created to provide a partnership of PVI providers under one roof. The complex will house a 118-place private nursery, under the Bridges name, which runs two other settings in the city. The administration section will also become Aberlour Child Care Trust's regional head office.

Regional director Len Seal said, 'Silverburn Lodge will provide a valuable training and support base to allow us to develop the quality work we do with children and young people in Aberdeen. The idea was that it would bring together all these different organisations which are all working with the same group of children.'

The project has been co-ordinated by Aberdeen Early Years and Childcare Partnership.
