'The 100 Languages of Children' comprises photographs, paintings, drawings, collage, video and sculpture the children have created to express their ideas and feelings.
The philosophy behind the Reggio Emilia early childhood centre was summed up by its founder, Loris Malaguzzi, who said, 'Children have many languages for expressing and communicating, and they want to use all of them. They seek an alliance with the adults in their life to protect their right to creative freedom, which is also a space of trust, solidarity and joy.'
The free exhibition will be on show in Manchester (7 April to 4 May), Newcastle (15 May to 13 June), Cambridge (24 June to 21 July), Kent (8 to 31 October), and Birmingham (8 November to 15 December). For details, visit the website www.sightlines-initiative.com.
