The teach first scheme should be extended to primary schools to attract high-calibre graduates to schools that serve disadvantaged areas, the National Education Trust has claimed in a report launched in partnership with the Sutton Trust.
Teach First so far has focused on secondary schools, with a small pilotin the primary sector. The report also calls for 10,000 'GoldenHandcuff' payments for exceptional teachers in challenging primaryschools. The report is available atwww.nationaleducationtrust.net/Downloads/TeachPrimary.pdf
