Road safety is in the headlights

Road safety is in the headlights as nurseries and playgroups take part in Beep Beep! Days until 12 September. The initiative, created by road safety charity Brake and sponsored by Green Flag Motoring Assistance, aims to teach children simple rules such as 'always hold hands with an adult when close to roads'. Brake's chief executive Mary Williams said, 'Nurseries and playgroups can play a crucial role in educating toddlers about rules that will help keep them safe by roads throughout their childhood.' Participating schools or nurseries can go on a sponsored toddle on safe pavements near their premises or encourage children to bring a 'ride-on' toy and take part in road safety lessons in the playground. For a free guide to holding a Beep Beep! Day call Brake on 01484 559909 or see www.greenflag.com.
