Nursery World is responding to widespread concern across the early years sector about the imposition of statutory synthetic phonics with a campaign - 'No formal phonics before five'. Already, many experienced practitioners, respected consultants and academics have contacted us to voice their fears that good early years practice will be jeopardised if a policy of synthetic phonics 'first and fast' is enforced.
