The Standard for Childhood Practice sets out a required qualificationlevel for all managers in early years settings. Managers will berequired to register with the SSSC and gain the new award of 360 creditsat Level 9 by 2011. Requirements for lower-level positions willfollow.
Colleges, universities and other training providers will be developingChildhood Practice awards based on this framework from next month, to berolled out in autumn 2008.
Frances Scott, learning and development advisor at SSSC, said, 'TheStandard of Childhood Practice is a benchmark standard for all childcareprofessionals across Scotland. The new required management levelqualification is building on the knowledge and experience peoplecurrently have.'
