The deafblind charity Sense says local councils are failing to identify deafblind children.
Its survey of 91 top-tier local authorities found that only a third ofthe estimated 2,100 deafblind children in the UK had been identified, and that almost half of those had not been offered a specialistassessment of their needs and less than a quarter received anyone-to-one support outside school or nursery. For details visitwww.sense.org.uk.
