Shortage of childcare places

A shortage of childcare places in their local area is cited by nearly half of all parents in Wales in research carried out by NatCen for the Welsh Assembly Government. It found evidence of a 'perceived shortfall among parents' despite Government reports of an increase in the registered stock of childcare. Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning Jane Davidson said, 'The report highlights many issues that our strategy, Childcare is for Children, is seeking to address, and will help inform the future direction of childcare in Wales.'
