With regard to Shelly Newstead's comments in 'Analysis: Holiday childcare will become harder to find' (19 August), we would like to clarify that SkillsActive has a contractual obligation from the Department for Education to conduct Playwork People 4, part of a series of research reports.
As such, it was not a political exercise. As the Sector Skills Councilfor playwork, SkillsActive is licensed to develop National OccupationalStandards for playwork and endorse quality playwork training. SeeLetters, page 15.
