Speak up for disorder

Labour and Tories are to 'fight to win the parents' vote', says the national news. Perhaps they will ensure parents don't have to continue suffering a postcode lottery to get help with their children who have speech, language or communications disorders. More than 1.2 million children are affected - enough for two in every classroom in the UK. We say minimum standards are needed to end this misery.

More than 1.2 million children are affected - enough for two in every classroom in the UK. We say minimum standards are needed to end this misery.

And misery it is for some. Our helpline hears the despair of parents who don't know what's wrong with their child or where to seek help. Some are even made to feel their child's disorder is their fault because they're bad parents. That can't be right and that's why we are asking parents of affected children to log on to our confidential survey on www.afasic.org.uk/survey so we can influence the Government.
