Spring to life

Spring is a common project for early years settings, but our work with children at this time of year needn't be restricted to a tired selection of traditional 'spring activities'. Of course, we will want to focus on what is happening around us during this period of the seasonal cycle, and to talk about things of obvious interest, such as growth and spring festivals, but there are also many new ways in which we can approach this familiar topic. Spring is an ideal time for exploration and investigation, for experiencing the elements first hand and for making exciting discoveries that help children to make sense of the natural world. It is a time for celebrating our diverse weather conditions and for delighting in the 'magic' of new life.
