Stephen started attending Pen Green at the age of three years five months in September 2003 and spent a year in the nursery.

Stephen has a connection schema (when one point, object or person connects to another). He also displays interest in going round a boundary, going through a boundary (causing oneself or some material to go through a boundary and emerge at the other side), and enclosure (enclosing oneself, an object or a space).

Stephen often chooses to use string or rope in his play. This seems to be linked to his deep interest in Spiderman and superhero play.
