Support network

It was so good to see the news story 'High marks for childminders' (5 July). I would like to congratulate all those who are on the four childminding networks. It is great to see that there are childminders who are proving that we are professionals and that we can deliver a good educational environment for young children. I am a member of the Alton and Aldershot Children Come First Childminding Network and working towards accreditation in the future. I am being given a lot of support and advice from my network co-coordinator, who is working very hard.

As a network, we have regular meetings with all the members and the opportunity to use a very well equipped toy library, offer children art and craft activities, new games, and new friends. We work together as a group of professionals and are able to share and exchange information.

Childminding has so much to offer children and parents. By being on these networks we are giving a clear message that we are a professional body of workers, well trained and well equipped to do our job.
