What sort of services do banks charge for?

Different banks will charge for different things. Some offer free banking providing you keep the number of transactions below a certain level, or perhaps if you always keep a certain, previously agreed, amount in your account. Otherwise, you can expect to pay up to around 70p for each cheque that you write and between 20p and 50p for each cheque you pay into your account.
