Teenagers bring young children to book

Ten foundation stage children from a Stockton-on-Tees primary school are enjoying starring roles in books written for them by a group of teenage boys.

Ten pupils from Ian Ramsey Church of England Aided Comprehensive School,also in Stockton-on-Tees, have written, illustrated and produced thebooks as part of a project aimed at improving their literacy andartistic skills in preparation for their GCSE exams.

Each child teamed up with one of the teenagers to produce the book,discussing their likes and dislikes and what sort of story they wanted.The boys then created a storybook about the child based on theirfavourite things.

Jenny Beaumont, foundation stage team leader at Hartburn primary school,told a local newspaper, 'The children were really excited about comingto Ian Ramsey and they were really excited about getting theirbooks.
