Television that's worth saving

By Colin Nobbs, freelance television producer I'm a new dad. We have a three-month-old baby girl and I am, of course, completely besotted. Just like any parent, I want the best for my daughter: good food, fresh air and exercise, a good education, and the very best television.

I'm a new dad. We have a three-month-old baby girl and I am, of course, completely besotted. Just like any parent, I want the best for my daughter: good food, fresh air and exercise, a good education, and the very best television.

I know that last one sounds odd, but I have worked for 20 years making children's television, producing science shows like 'The Big Bang' and game shows like 'Jungle Run' and 'Raven'. I've seen how the best TV, from 'Tracy Beaker' to 'How2', can inspire children, sparking imagination and broadening their knowledge. But unless we do something to protect it, we will lose it forever.
