The Northern Ireland Executive has spent 6.3m to fund 23 Sure Start programmes

The Northern Ireland Executive has spent 6.3m to fund 23 Sure Start programmes which support more than 17,000 children aged from nought to three, deputy first minister Mark Durkan said last week. More than 10.3m has also been allocated by the Children's Executive Programme Fund for projects in areas including health, education, play and working with children at risk. He said, 'The expansion of the pre-school education programme will create an additional 9,400 free nursery places and Book Start will provide books for over 28,000 babies and their parents.'
