(30 September). Having spent the past few years supporting childcare businesses and assisting with recruitment practice, it has become clear that schools and career advisers are still steering the less-able students, and those who may have had problems at school, into childcare.
We have to change this attitude and shout out loud that childcare is not a poor option. It is for the bright, dedicated and hardworking students, those who can happily study and apply their learning, those who can follow instruction, work in teams and build good relationships with others. It is not the best option for the disadvantaged, disapplied or less academic students who have had problems relating to authority.
