Three-year-old Katy Reid

(Photograph) - Three-year-old Katy Reid and her mother Maureen enjoyed a new Scots Gaelic book for under-fives, Katie's Moose, launched on 16 August at Edinburgh's International Book Festival. The board book full of rhymes and illustrations is part of the Itchy Coo project to promote the Scots language. Scotland's culture minister Patricia Ferguson said, 'Encouraging children to readn and to embrace the Scots language will help fire imaginations and enable young people to be confident and creative. Katie's Moose will do much to introduce young children to the Scots language in an enjoyable and educational way.' Photo Chris James
