Timber is latest word in nursery design

Ten nurseries, Sure Start centres and children's centres have been built in south-west England with renewable Canadian timber by a new company specialising in bespoke, eco-friendly nurseries. The Timber Team, which operates from Cheshire and Somerset, has now been contracted by a playgroup in South Cerney in the Cotswolds and a family centre in Herefordshire. It imports buildings from the United States in kit form, featuring double-height vaulted ceilings and large windows.

Rachael Goldsack, who is co-director of the company with her sister Alex, said, 'We have a background in property development and, as we are both mothers, feel we have something different to offer the nursery industry.

Our buildings are designed to meet a nursery's exact needs and have a long lifespan of over 100 years.'
