This does not mean, however, that all the instruments on the market are good-far from it. When selecting instruments for your setting, remember that as a general guide, an instrument should:

* have good sound quality: If the sound is pleasing to you and holds your attention, it will hold the attention of young children. Quite a lot of plastic instruments and small, inexpensive instruments in catalogues for educational equipment don't make the grade in terms of sound quality.
