Toybox started out as a local women's centre but launched as a day nursery in 2003. It specialises in affordable, low-cost childcare for the Retford Road and Hallam Road estates in a rural ex-coalfield community. Sarah Lees of Co-operative Action said, 'We were impressed by the community service that Toybox offers to an area that is struggling to cope with the decline of the traditional coal industry.'
