High/Scope was sharing a building in London with Barnardo's, who fundedthe organisation for 16 years. Administrative staff from the Londonoffices chose not to relocate to South Tyneside, opting instead forvoluntary redundancy.
High/Scope plans to launch a DVD on 20 November to coincide with theofficial opening ceremony for the new building, which features anational training and demonstration centre.
The High/Scope UK Daily Routine DVD, which will be available from theorganisation's website, offers an overview of a daily routine in atypical setting, covering the two- to five-year-old age range.
Pam Lafferty, director of High/Scope UK, said, 'Our goal was always tobecome self-sufficient and we are very excited about the move. In theUK, the High/ Scope approach to learning started in South Tyneside, soit is as if we are going back to our roots. We have a reallyenthusiastic group of trainers on board and we aim to spread theHigh/Scope approach throughout the whole area.'
High/Scope originated in the United States and has been operational inthe UK since 1990 and is recognised by Ofsted. Larry Schweinhart,president of the High/Scope Research Foundation USA, will be attendingthe opening ceremony.
