'As part of the first group of trainees there was very littleinformation, and this made it quite nerve-wracking,' she says. 'But I amvery glad I completed the course because it makes me feel that I can bepart of a movement to raise the standard of childcare across theboard.

'It has also given me a stronger understanding of how the future of thesector is envisioned. It is a very good ambition to have a graduate inevery setting as this will undoubtedly raise the standard of early yearseducation.

'At the same time I do feel that some of my colleagues in the nurserywould make very good EYPs but they do not have the necessaryqualifications to get on the course. This is something that needs to beaddressed.'

'I wanted to go on the course to see if I was doing things the right wayand reflect on my ideas of leadership and management,' she says.

'Doing NPQICL was the best thing I've ever done in my career. Itcompletely changed how I work and made me a much more reflectivepractitioner.'

'The beauty of the course is that you feel it is written for youpersonally, because you can pull out the threads that are most relevantand no two assignments are the same.

'A strong concept of leadership and a vision for joined up working isvital in my setting. The course taught me that leadership is about awhole team of people working together, and developing a no-blameculture.
