Treated as teacher

I feel that nursery nurses have always played a much more independent role than classroom assistants, and that for many years now the role of teacher and nursery nurse have become more alike. Having recently been through an Ofsted inspection where I was asked about target setting, observations, implementing planning and Individual Education Plans, I began to wonder why I wasn't on a teacher's salary.

Maybe it's time we nursery nurses, who often have better knowledge and training of child development than teachers, ran the nursery classes.
