A repeat of Brian Sibley's 13-part dramatisation of JRR Tolkien's classic tale, now at a cinema near you. This production stars Ian Holm as Frodo, Sir Michael Hordern as Gandalf, Sir Robert Stephens as Aragorn and John Le Mesurier as Bilbo Baggins.

To accompany the re-broadcasting of 'The Lord of the Rings', acclaimed scriptwriter, author and presenter Brian Sibley explores how and why these stories of Middle Earth have stirred so many passions and why they still do. He examines the legacy of Tolkien's imaginary world, how it has fed other imaginations, and how what he created has been reinvented and reinterpreted.
