Two-year-olds: Nursery refurb in time for twos

To prepare for the delivery of the free early education places for two-year-olds in September, York Nurseries in Burnley, Lancashire, is renovating the setting over the summer.

Owned by Claire York and Heather Langridge, the nursery will be restructured in order to accommodate more children eligible for the funded places. Currently the nursery cares for 11 or 12 children aged two per session, and three of these are funded places.

Part of the nursery building is currently unused, and smaller rooms will be knocked together to form larger spaces.

In year one, York Nurseries will offer 12 extra places per session, expanding to 24 in year two and 36 in year three.
